Designed for licensed massage therapists, this course combines lecture, demonstration, and extensive hands-on practice to help participants confidently incorporate TMJ-focused work into clinical practice.

What You'll Learn

  • Appropriate indications and contraindications for TMJ massage

  • Informed consent and client communication

  • Infection control and safe intraoral procedures

  • Functional anatomy of the TMJ and surrounding structures

  • Assessment strategies for clients with jaw pain and headaches

  • Safe intraoral techniques

  • External jaw techniques

  • Head and cranial techniques

  • Neck and shoulder techniques

  • A complete 90-minute protocol from start to finish

  • Clinical reasoning behind each technique and when to modify your approach

Course Format

This is a highly interactive, hands-on course.

Each section of the protocol is:

  1. Explained

  2. Demonstrated

  3. Practiced with instructor guidance

North Carolina Massage Laws & Ethics: What Every LMBT Should Know

5-Hour Ethics Continuing Education Course

Have you ever wondered what the North Carolina Massage and Bodywork Therapy Practice Act actually says? Are you relying on something you heard in massage school—or something another therapist told you years ago?

This interactive course breaks down the North Carolina Practice Act, Board Rules, and Board Guidelines into plain language you can actually use in practice. We'll separate legal requirements from common myths, explore real-life scenarios, and discuss how the rules apply to everyday clinical decisions.

Topics include:

  • Documentation requirements
  • Informed consent
  • Scope of practice
  • Professional boundaries
  • Advertising and business practices
  • Client records and confidentiality
  • When you can refuse or terminate treatment
  • Common reasons therapists face Board discipline
  • Questions submitted by participants

Bring your own questions and practice dilemmas! This course is designed to be discussion-based, giving you the opportunity to work through real-world situations with fellow North Carolina massage therapists.

Whether you're a new LMBT or have been practicing for decades, you'll leave with a stronger understanding of the laws governing your profession—and greater confidence in your day-to-day practice.

This course is intended for North Carolina Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapists and focuses specifically on North Carolina law and Board regulations.
