Heather James LMBT #10296

About

Heather James, LMBT #10296 (she/her), has been practicing therapeutic and clinical massage since 2010 after graduating from Wake Technical Community College’s Therapeutic Massage program. She later earned a Biology Pre-Medical degree from North Carolina Central University and completed two years of osteopathic medical school training, shaping her strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and clinical reasoning.

Heather’s work bridges medical massage, somatic bodywork, and nervous system–informed care. Her sessions are highly specific, anatomically precise, and individualized — combining results-focused treatment with deep relaxation and safety for the nervous system. Rather than following a routine style of massage, she integrates a range of techniques based on assessment and real-time response during each session.

Her clinical interests include chronic pain and tension patterns, TMJ dysfunction, headaches and migraines, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, scar tissue and fibrosis, postural and nerve-related pain, autoimmune conditions, and complex or persistent musculoskeletal issues. She also provides specialized manual lymphatic drainage to support recovery following cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, including gender-affirming procedures.

Heather has a particular appreciation for caring for fellow healthcare providers and bodyworkers. She understands firsthand the physical and emotional demands placed on those who care for others and offers treatment that supports restoration, regulation, and sustainable wellbeing.

Her practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in collaborative, consent-centered care.

Outside the treatment room, Heather enjoys spending time with family, tending her yard and garden, exploring local comedy shows, reading, birding, hiking, and photographing the small and fascinating details of the natural world — especially insects and other tiny creatures.
